MARKETING MATERIALS AS FINE ART

1. Please describe your business.

Susan Searway Art & Design specializes as a marketing company providing graphic design, website design, and social media strategies and implementation to her clients. I have years of experience working in the print world from designing and laying out logo design, business cards, brochures, identity packages, advertisements, fliers, direct mailers, etc.  From there I can then convert almost anything into an online format whether it be a website, social media, email campaigns, etc. By knowing both the print and online world I creates effective marketing and branding for my clients’ company that works best for you.  I do have experience in creating custom built websites from scratch as well as working through template website programs (WordPress, Joomla, etc.) depending on your needs for updates and maintenance of your website in the future.

Over the past few years I have also gotten into Social Media marketing and strategies. I work with you to determine where you want to market your services and products be it: Facebook, Instagram, Yelp Business Page, Google Business Page, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.  I create a schedule of suggested posts with content, images/videos, and hashtags.  Once approved I schedule and implement your posts on a monthly basis on the businesses’ social media platforms.

2. Why are you doing what you are doing?

I am a computer nerd.  I love working on the computer creating interesting layouts. Growing up I created tons of photomontages and playing around with Photoshop was my favorite past time.  Since graduating from Dominican with a Bachelor of Fine Arts emphasis in Digital Art and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, I have found I really enjoy working closely with my clients to create their marketing materials.  I thrive on learning about their companies and then have the fun challenge of how to design visually what they do in the world.

3. Give a brief narration of your experience that sets you up to be the Go-To Person for this product or service.

I have been in the work world since I was 15 working in a variety of offices.  After graduating college I picked up a part-time job at the Bay Model Visitor Center working on their marketing, print, and website work and another part-time job with their non-profit.  I quickly became too efficient and discovered I had worked myself out of a 3 day a week job to a 1 day a week job for the visitor center.  As I created a new contract with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers I began to develop the beginnings of my own company.  On January 1, 2006 Susan Searway Art & Design was created.  Over the past 14 years I have worked for hundreds of different clients and businesses on and off throughout the years.  I love what I do and I am always looking forward to the next design project.

4. What are the 2-3 things that you like most about your business?

I like the fast pace of marketing in print and online.  By working as a graphic designer and website designer you get thrown into a lot of different projects.  Logo design projects usually lead to business cards, brochures, fliers, then to websites.  I get to use a lot of creativity and basic art principles as I combine photos, content, and colors in my clients’ designs.  I like to view my designs as works of art that represent my clients.

5. Do you have future plans . . . or is there another question you would like to answer?

My plans for the future is continue to build my clientele.  I have so much fun working on a variety of different projects.  It brings me great joy when my clients are happy with their final product whether it be a brochure or their website.  Please think of Susan Searway Art & Design for all your marketing print and online needs.  I also plan on continuing my fine art series in my art studio at Art Works Downtown, Studio #18 in San Rafael, CA.
